Nashvillians Receiving Hoax Email on Gang Activity
A hoax email is presently circulating through Nashville warning people to be aware of increased gang activity and random shootings. The Metropolitan Police Department's Gang Unit has determined that the email has no validity. Hoax emails on crime issues are common in the United States. Citizens can refer to the website www.snopes.com to dispel many myths and urban legends.-
Chief Serpas Inducted to Pi Alpha Alpha Honor Society
May 2, 2008 - Chief Ronal Serpas today was honorarily inducted into Tennessee State University's Chapter of Pi Alpha Alpha, the National Honor Society for Public Affairs and Administration.

West End Synagogue Contributes $400 to 100 Club
Chief Ronal Serpas today accepted a $400 donation to Nashville's 100 Club from Rabbi Moshe Ulmer of the West End Synagogue. The check was awarded in appreciation for Chief Serpas helping the Jewish community celebrate the holiday of Passover.

12 Officers Promoted to the Rank of Sergeant
Mayor Karl Dean and Chief Ronal Serpas today participated in a promotion ceremony for 12 Metro police officers who will become sergeants effective April 1.
Cornerstone Church Donates $25,000 to the Police & Fire Departments

Police Department & Scrap Metal Dealers Reach Agreement on "No Buy List"
In a concerted effort to reduce copper thefts from construction sites and residential and business air conditioning units, two of Nashville’s largest scrap metal dealers today agreed to adhere to a “no buy list” containing the names of more than 300 convicted thieves and burglars.
