A man with 15 burglary convictions spanning 24 years is jailed once again, this time for two commercial burglaries in Green Hills last night.
While investigating a break-in at the Firefly Grill on Bandywood Drive, West Precinct Detective Steve Parks received a report of man walking behind area businesses pulling on doors. Parks soon spotted Lucian Buchanan, 49, on foot in the parking garage underneath the Hillsboro Building and ordered him to stop. Buchanan fled and was ultimately taken into custody by Sergeant Johnnie Melzoni at the Exxon market on Hillsboro Pike. Buchanan was still carrying rolled coins taken during the Firefly Grill burglary. Detective Parks retraced Buchanan’s steps and saw that a dentist’s office had also been broken into. A 32-inch flatscreen television taken from the office was recovered nearby in the snow on Hobbs Road.
Records reflect Buchanan picked up 15 burglary convictions between 1982 and 2006 in Davidson and Montgomery Counties. He is being held in the Metro Jail in lieu of $85,000 bail.
