FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

September 17, 2009

East Precinct detectives a short time ago obtained a murder warrant against Ryan Oneal White in connection with Tuesday morning’s fatal shooting of James Truitt inside a residence at 815 North 2nd Street.

White, 20, is believed to have shot Truitt just before 1 a.m. while attempting to rob him. Truitt, 24, was involved in a dice game at the time, as was Artrell Wade, 21, who was also fatally shot. Truitt died after being driven to Skyline Medical Center in a minivan, which left after dropping him off. Wade was found in the front yard of the home and was pronounced dead at Vanderbilt.

Charges in regard to Wade’s murder are expected to be placed as the investigation continues.

Detectives are also seeking McKinley Kenny Martin, 29, for questioning in connection with the murders. It is believed that Martin was present when the gunfire erupted and has information about the circumstances. Martin is a convicted burglar, thief and vandal.

Murder suspect Ryan Oneal White has three misdemeanor drug convictions as an adult. Charges that White kidnapped his girlfriend at gunpoint earlier this year were dismissed.

Victims Truitt and Wade had recent felony cocaine convictions.

Anyone seeing Ryan Oneal White or McKinley Kenny Martin is urged to contact the Emergency Communications Center at 862-8600 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME. Citizens can also send an electronic tip to Crime Stoppers by texting the word “CASH” along with their message to 274637 (CRIMES), or by going online to www.nashvillecrimestoppers.com.
