FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

September 10, 2009

A tip to Crime Stoppers led to this morning’s arrest of convicted robber Gerald Robinson, 50, who is now charged with two convenience store hold-ups.

Robinson allegedly entered the Mapco at 2827 Smith Springs Road Tuesday at 2:30 a.m. and told the clerk he didn’t want to hurt him over a few dollars.  Robinson took cash from the register.  Approximately one hour later, Robinson walked into the Exxon at 4198 Murfreesboro Pike and indicated he had a weapon.  The clerk refused to open the cash drawer and Robinson fled empty handed.

Both clerks positively identified Robinson as the robber.  He admitted his involvement in both hold-ups during interviews with Hermitage Precinct Detective Jason Rosalia.  Robinson is charged with aggravated robbery and attempted robbery.  He is being held in lieu of $100,000 bond.

Robinson was convicted in June of robbing a Hamilton Church Road convenience store in January.  He was sentenced to probation.  Robinson also has past theft and felony cocaine convictions.
