
Mario Brown, 33, is charged with criminal homicide and aggravated arson in Friday morning’s death of a 54-year-old man inside a boarding house in the 900 block of 32nd Avenue North.
The victim, who was badly burned, was discovered deceased in his bed by the house manager at 1:30 a.m. During an interview with North Precinct detectives, Brown admitted he set the fire but gave no clear reason as to why. Brown was convicted of attempted murder in 1994.
The group home, where both men lived, assists persons with certain health and personal issues.
The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of family.
