A citizen’s tip about a Honda Accord parked outside a business on Dana Way with marijuana inside led to the arrest of a UPS supervisor who is accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of jewelry from UPS packages.
As South Precinct Officer John Timm was gathering information from the car, the owner, Richard Traughber, 31, was dropped off by a UPS truck driver. Traughber said the Honda was his and acknowledged there was marijuana inside the vehicle. Seized in a subsequent search of the Accord were approximately $15,000 worth of jewelry; including a Rolex watch, rings, and necklaces. Marijuana, various pills, and a digital scale were also recovered from the car.
Traughber admitted he pawned items stolen from UPS packages in the past. He is charged with three counts of felony drug possession, theft, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held in lieu of $37,000 bond.
The Fraud Unit continues to investigate this case.
