FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 20, 2009

Officers assigned to Hunters Lane High School this afternoon arrested a 15-year-old 10th grader for carrying a loaded .38 caliber revolver on campus as school was being dismissed for the day.

Officers Chris Stafford and Kelvin Lusk spotted the 15-year-old, who did not attend classes today, near the bus lane in the company of three other juveniles who have been expelled from Nashville high schools. As the officers approached the group, they walked to the front parking lot. The officers detained the four and located the pistol in the 15-year-old’s pocket. It was loaded with four rounds. An initial computer check shows the gun to have been stolen.

The 15-year-old is being charged with unlawfully carrying a gun on school property. The three other teenagers are being charged with trespassing.
