
A tip to Crime Stoppers led to the identification of convicted felon Monette Bowen, 20, as the woman suspected of robbing at least three elderly women at gunpoint outside their homes in October and November. Bowen is currently in custody in Chattanooga on unrelated felony theft charges. Warrants charging her with three counts each of aggravated robbery and fraudulent use of a credit card have been issued in Davidson County for the following robberies:
In each case the women, ages 88, 87, and 63, were returning home when approached by the suspect. One of the victim's was struck in the head with a handgun when she refused to relinquish her purse. The victims and a witness positively identified Bowen as the robber.
Bowen, whose last known address was on Bell Road, has past convictions for theft and two counts of aggravated burglary.
