South Precinct detectives this afternoon charged Gavin Darnell Perry with criminal homicide for last year’s beating death of Christopher Charles Hill, whose body was found October 8 in a vacant lot at 1274 Lewis Street. A man picking up aluminum cans discovered Hill’s decomposing body underneath a large piece of plastic.
Months of investigation by Detectives Brad Corcoran and David Achord led to the identification of Perry as a primary person of interest. During an interview today, Perry confessed to killing Hill, 20, of Lewis Street. He said it occurred during a fight over money.
Perry, 19, of 32nd Avenue South, is being held without bond pending a hearing this coming week.
