May 7, 2008

Crash Investigation Unit officers are seeking a potential witness to an accident on East Old Hickory Boulevard near Queen Ann Drive in which a man was critically injured just after midnight.

Witnesses report Andrew Pruett, 27, of Swinging Bridge Road, was driving his 2001 Ford pickup eastbound on East Old Hickory Boulevard, when he veered off the roadway and struck a rock wall. He was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the truck. Pruett was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he is listed in critical but stable condition.

Investigators want to talk to the driver of a late 1970s black flatbed pickup truck with wood rails who stopped after the accident, but left before he could be interviewed. He is described as a black man in his 30s who is approximately 5’9” tall with an afro hairstyle. Two women were also reportedly in the truck with him.

Anyone with information concerning this driver is urged to contact the Crash Investigation Unit at 862-7738.
