West Precinct Flex officers today charged eleven Hillsboro High School students with loitering during school hours for leaving campus when they were supposed to be in class.
“Students must come to the realization that this government, from the mayor, to the police department, to the school system, is very serious about students being in school and receiving an education,” Chief Ronal Serpas said. “No one benefits from young people being on the streets instead of in class.”
Today’s truancy operation is the latest in an ongoing effort between the police department, Juvenile Court, and school officials to see that students remain in class until dismissal.
