The Clarksville man killed in a single-vehicle accident Thursday night on Harper Road is identified as 47-year-old John Tompkins.
He was driving a Toyota pickup northbound in the 7400 block of Harper Road just after 8:30 p.m. when the truck careened off the roadway, struck a fence, and collided with two trees.
Tompkins, the only occupant in the pickup, died at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
Tompkins’ excessive speed appears to be a contributing factor to this fatal crash. There was no evidence of alcohol involvement at the scene.
