Last weekend’s Operation Safer Streets gang enforcement initiative, which took place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday resulted in 85 arrests involving 85 misdemeanors, 24 felonies, and nine outstanding warrants. Seized were 98 grams of marijuana, 8.3 grams of cocaine, and $340 cash.

At least three times a week, officers and supervisors representing each of the six precincts and the Specialized Investigations Division (SID) partner together to implement strategies to combat gang crime and activities in various areas of Nashville.

Friday’s enforcement consisted of eight SID detectives, 29 patrol officers, and three canine units. Areas targeted were 28th Avenue North at Jefferson Street, University Court, the J.C. Napier public housing development, Trimble Bottoms, Nolensville Pike, Harding Place, Trinity Lane, Brick Church Pike, North 1st Street, and Charlotte Pike.

Saturday’s enforcement consisted of nine SID detectives, 27 patrol officers, and two canine units.

Areas targeted were South 6th Street at Shelby Avenue, South 7th Street at Fatherland Street, Lewis Street at Lafayette Street, 27th Avenue North at Booker Street, 14th Avenue North at Ireland Street, Douglas Avenue, Pennock Avenue, the Madison and Rivergate Mall areas, Haywood Lane, Apache Trail, and the Hickory Hollow Mall area.

Sunday’s enforcement consisted of seven SID detectives and six patrol officers. Areas targeted were Trinity Lane at Liberia Street, Brick Church Pike, Harding Place, and Nolensville Pike.
