The Metro police department’s officer ranks will grow by 31 tonight as the city’s newest police officers graduate from five months of training, receive their badges, and take the oath of office.
The graduation ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. at Madison Church of Christ, 106 North Gallatin Pike.
The 31 members of tonight’s graduating class began training on October 1, 2007. The new officers will spend the next five to six months with precinct field training officers before patrolling the streets by themselves.
Media representatives and the public are invited to the graduation ceremony, at which both Mayor Dean and Chief Serpas will speak.
