
Last weekend’s Operation Safer Streets gang enforcement initiative, which took place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday resulted in 81 arrests involving 13 felonies, 86 misdemeanors, and 17 outstanding warrants. Seized were 6.5 grams of marijuana and 6.8 grams of cocaine.
At least three times a week, officers and supervisors representing each of the six precincts and the Specialized Investigations Division (SID) partner together to implement strategies to combat gang crime and activities in various areas of Nashville.
Friday’s enforcement consisted of 15 SID detectives, four patrol officers, and one canine unit. Areas targeted were the J.C. Napier public housing development, University Court, Haywood Lane, Trinity Lane, Lischey Avenue, Dickerson Pike at Cleveland Street, and Harding Place.
Saturday’s enforcement consisted of six SID detectives, four patrol officers, and two canine units. Areas targeted were the James Cayce public housing development, Gallatin Pike, McFerrin Avenue, and Main Street.
Sunday’s enforcement consisted of eight SID detectives and five patrol officers. Areas targeted were 26th Avenue North at Jefferson Street, 31st Avenue North at Charlotte Avenue, 40th Avenue North at Clifton Avenue, Herman Street, Booker Street, and I-24 at Harding Place.
