FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 22, 2008

Hermitage Precinct detectives have charged seven juveniles, ages 14-17, in four home burglaries in the Priest Lake area and believe they and other teens may be involved in as many as 40 residential burglaries since November 2007.

An investigation led to the arrest Thursday of two 16-year-old sophomores at Antioch High School and a 14-year-old freshman at Antioch 9th Grade Academy. All three are charged in separate break-ins.

Three more 9th graders, two 14-year-olds and one 15-year old, were arrested this morning after a concerned citizen saw them running with a rifle through a wooded area off Pinhook Road. A short time later, a teacher at Thomas Edison elementary school reported the three teens were hiding under a portable classroom. Officers quickly took them into custody. The rifle, a shotgun, and crossbow were found in the woods. The teens admitted they had taken the weapons from a home on Milbridge Bay.

A 17-year-old, who had been expelled from Antioch High School, was arrested this afternoon and admitted to burglarizing a home on Twin Circle Drive earlier this month.

The investigation continues and additional arrests are expected.
