Two teenagers are charged after a tip from a student led to this afternoon’s recovery of a .38-caliber handgun from Jere Baxter alternative school at 3515 Gallatin Pike.
After learning of the tip, officers found the loaded gun under the locker of a 17-year-old student. The 12th grader said he had the weapon for protection. A 16-year-old 10th grader admitted he retrieved the weapon, hidden by the 17-year-old behind a nearby business, and brought it to him inside the school.
Both teenagers were arrested and charged at juvenile detention with carrying a gun on school property.
