Undercover detectives assigned to each of the department’s six precincts this week charged 89 persons with mostly drug and prostitution offenses as the result of investigations in various Nashville neighborhoods.
South Precinct detectives charged 19 persons as the result of investigations on Murfreesboro Pike, Garden Street, Old Hickory Boulevard, Wallace Road, and Wayne Street. Seized were 12.2 grams of cocaine, 116 grams of marijuana, 12 ounces of methamphetamine, eight Ecstasy pills, one weapon, approximately $2,000 worth of electronics, and $206.00 cash.
Hermitage Precinct detectives charged 14 persons as the result of investigations on Murfreesboro Pike, Anderson Road at Country Hill Road, and Lewis Street. Seized were one gram of cocaine and three grams of marijuana.
West Precinct detectives charged 20 persons as the result of investigations on 12th Avenue North at Meharry Boulevard, Hangar Lane, Merry Street, 12th Avenue North at Jackson Street, and 28th Avenue North at Clifton Avenue. Seized were 154 pounds of cocaine, 5.5 pounds of marijuana, 20 methadone pills, four grams of heroin, 100 Xanax pills, $1,200 cash, and one Cessna twin engine airplane valued at $185,000.00 dollars.
North Precinct detectives charged 17 persons as the result of investigations on South Gallatin Pike, South Street, Cephas Street, Hillhurst Drive, Buchanan Street, and West Trinity Lane. Seized were 1.5 ounces of cocaine, 26.5 pounds of marijuana, seven weapons, and $6,841.00 cash.
East Precinct detectives charged eight persons as the result of investigations in the 200 block of Sunset Drive, the 1100 block of North 5th Street, the 500 block of Sylvan Street, and the 1000 block of Joyce Lane. Seized were .4 grams of cocaine and .1 gram of heroin.
Central Precinct detectives charged 11 persons as the result of investigations on 6th Avenue South at Ewing Avenue, Elm and Lafayette Streets at 4th Avenue South, Oak Street, North 1st Street at Oldham Street, 8th and 9th Avenues South at Division Street, and 10th Avenue North. Seized were a small amount of cocaine and seven grams of crystal methamphetamine.
Persons suspecting drug activity in their neighborhoods are urged to call the police department’s 244-DOPE hotline. Callers to the hotline can remain anonymous.
