FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

January 28, 2008

Outstanding efforts by South Precinct Patrol and Flex officers led to Saturday’s arrest of four men, including December murder suspect Robert Tyler Williams.

Officer Mike Straube stopped the driver of a 2002 Buick LeSabre for reckless driving in the 200 block of Willard Drive at 8:45 p.m. The driver and two passengers, Cedrick Woods, 19, of Booker Street, and George Selwyn, 20, of Jonquil Drive, fled on foot. Williams, 21, of Tampa Drive, stayed in the car. Woods and Selwyn were quickly captured by Flex officers. At 9:45 p.m., Donald Dowell, 21, of Tammany Drive, called to report that he had been carjacked. Officers soon determined Dowell was the fourth suspect. He was positively identified as the Buick’s driver.

A .22 caliber revolver, a semi-automatic pistol, and a shotgun, were recovered from the LeSabre.

Williams, a convicted felon, is charged with 1st degree murder in the December 15 shooting of Dominque Roper, 18, during a party inside a Cane Ridge Road Apartment. Witnesses reported Williams and Roper argued before shots were fired. Williams is being held in lieu of $505,000 bond.

Dowel is charged with unlawful weapon possession, evading arrest, reckless driving, and filing a false report. He is being held in lieu of $27,500 bond. His arrest history reflects charges for unlawful weapon possession, domestic assault, gambling, vandalism, and theft.

Woods and Selwyn are each charged with unlawful weapon possession and evading arrest. Both are free on $7,500 bond.
