SWAT officers assigned to the Special Response Team late Wednesday arrested Ricky Thomas Johnson for the November 18th shooting of Tyree Gray outside Buena Vista Apartments on Buena Vista Pike in North Nashville.
Gray, 18, was shot in the back and side after arriving at the apartment complex to buy marijuana.
Weeks of trying to locate Johnson led officers to 906 Hickory Hollow Terrace, where he was staying with his girlfriend. When the girlfriend, Telkie Corley, saw officers approaching the apartment from her car, she quickly made a cell phone call in an apparent attempt to warn Johnson. Moments later, Johnson was apprehended without incident as he attempted to flee the apartment through the rear door.
Corley, 28, who lied to officers about Johnson’s presence in the apartment, was arrested for harboring him.
Johnson is being held in lieu of $350,000 bond on a charge of attempted murder. Corley’s bond was set at $20,000.
Johnson’s arrest history reflects a number of crimes over the past three years, including unlawful gun possession, reckless endangerment, attempted homicide, aggravated burglary, and harassment.
