Outstanding police work by West Precinct Patrol Officer Mac Peebles led to the arrest Monday afternoon of four suspects charged with robbing a couple at gunpoint outside their residence at the Valley Ridge Apartments at 6501 Harding Pike.
Officer Peebles spotted the suspect’s getaway car, a black 1992 Honda Civic, minutes after the 4:40 p.m. robbery. He activated his blue lights and the driver, Deanthony Collins, 19, of Creekwood N., stopped the car in the 300 block of White Bridge Road. Collins and his passengers, Antwon Russell, 16, of Fowler Street, Dion Kinnear, 20, of Oakdale Drive, and Donta Waggoner, 16, of Kingston Street, were taken into custody without incident. Two handguns were recovered from the car. Collins admitted using the victim’s credit card to fill his gas tank and also told officers where they could locate her purse. All four are charged with aggravated robbery.
Collins was charged with robbing a woman in the parking lot of Opry Mills last June. He was free on $75,000 bond. He was also convicted in June of unlawful weapon possession in a separate incident. Collins is currently being held on $80,000 bond.
Kinnear’s arrest history reflects theft convictions. He is being held in lieu of $90,000 bond.
