Hermitage Precinct detectives have charged aTennessee paroleein a series of New Year’s Day hotel robberies.

Elmi Abdi, 30, of Glastenbury Road,has been identified as the man whoentered the Extended Stay Hotel at 2525 Elm Hill Pike at 8 a.m. on January 1andindicated he had a gun.The clerk ran out the back door. He fled on foot without any money. Five minutes later, a man matching Abdi’s description tried to rob a clerk inside the Hamilton Inn at 837 Briley Parkway.The clerk ran into an office and Abdi fled without taking anything.Minutes later, he succeeded in robbing a clerk at the Crossland Studio Extended Stay Hotel at 1210 Murfreesboro Pike.Incredibly, the clerk told police Abdi was the same man who robbed her in 2002.She positively identified Abdi as the man who robbed her again on New Year’s Day.A second clerk also identified Abdi as the robber.

In addition,Abdi is being charged with the December 26 robbery of the Motel 6 at 95 Wallace Road. He ispresently being held in lieu of $50,000 bond.A parole violation warrant is expected to be filed against him.

Abdi was paroled in August of 2007 after serving four years of an eight-year sentence for aggravated robbery.
