
Two fleeing robbery suspects were taken into custody on the grounds of the Police Training Academy at 2715 Tucker Road this afternoon.
Jamar Donnell Parker, 19, of Lischey Place, and Aaron Donte Evans, Jr., 19, of Lagrange Drive, are charged with robbing a woman at gunpoint in the parking lot of Regions Bank’s 1200 Rosa L. Parks Boulevard branch. The suspects fled in a Dodge Neon just after 12 noon.
Forty-five minutes later, North Precinct Sergeant Vernon Johnson saw two men in a Dodge Neon fire shots at a passing car in the 2700 block of Tucker Road near the Police Training Academy. Sergeant Johnson activated his blue lights causing the suspects to stop the getaway car and flee on foot. Patrol officers, K-9, and Aviation quickly responded. Both men were captured in a wooded area.
Evans and Parker are being held in lieu of $50,000 bond. Additional charges are pending.
