FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

December 17, 2007

The man killed in a two-vehicle collision at Bridgeway Avenue and Old Hickory Boulevard Saturday afternoon is identified as Dean Owen Matthews, 70, of Lutie Street.

Matthews was driving his 1982 Chevrolet pickup through the intersection of Bridgeway Avenue and Old Hickory Boulevard when he collided with a 1996 Chevrolet pickup driven by Terry Massey, 48, of Hermitage at 1 p.m. Matthews was transported to Skyline Medical Center where he died. His passenger, Terri Reese, 53, of Mayer Lane, suffered minor injuries. Massey and his 14-year-old daughter were transported to Summit Medical Center where they were treated and released.

The contributing factor to this fatal accident appears to be Matthews’ failure to yield to oncoming traffic. There was no evidence of alcohol or drug involvement at the scene.
