Metro Police and the FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force are working to identify the man who robbed Bank of America’s 645 Thompson Lane branch at 1:40 p.m. today.

The robber approached a teller and produced a bank robbery demand note. The teller complied by providing cash from the bank drawer and the robber fled on foot. Witnesses reported that when the man fled the bank, the dye pack exploded inside his pants pocket.

The suspect is described as a white man between the ages of 35 to 40 years old. He is approximately 5’7” to 5’9” tall and is estimated to weigh around 160 pounds. He was unshaven, and was wearing a dark hat, dark long-sleeved jacket, and gray undershirt at the time of the robbery. No suspect vehicle was seen.

Photos of the suspect taken by the bank’s surveillance system accompany this media release on the police department’s Internet site. Anyone recognizing the suspect or knowing his whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME or the FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force at 232-7540.
