FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

December 7, 2007

West Precinct detectives today took out arrest warrants against two women in connection with robberies November 25 in the parking lot of Calhoun’s restaurant on White Bridge Road and a parking garage near Whole Foods in the Hill Center off Hillsboro Pike in Green Hills.

Bertina Baker, 24, of Zermatt Avenue, and Sharandon Patterson, 21, of Cheatham Place, each face one count of aggravated robbery and one count of robbery.

The investigation shows that Baker, Patterson, and a male accomplice whose identify has not been confirmed were in Baker’s Pontiac Grand Am and drove up on the victims. In the Calhoun’s robbery, a 62-year-old woman was helping her 83-year-old mother into a car when the male suspect demanded her purse. She complied. In the parking garage robbery, the male suspect demanded a 36-year-old woman’s purse. When she refused, he slapped her and took the purse.

A tip to Crime Stoppers assisted Detective Brad Putnam in identifying the two women. Baker was arrested today and is being held in lieu of $50,000 bond. Patterson is not yet in custody.

Hermitage Precinct detectives will be charging the suspects with attempting to rob a 33-year-old woman of her purse in the Wal-Mart parking lot on Lebanon Pike also on November 25.
