
Last weekend’s Operation Safer Streets gang enforcement initiative, which took place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday resulted in 59 arrests involving one felony, 62 misdemeanors, and ten outstanding warrants. Seized were 60 grams of marijuana, two miscellaneous pills, and one gun.
At least three times a week, officers and supervisors representing each of the six precincts and the Specialized Investigations Division (SID) partner together to implement strategies to combat gang crime and activities in various areas of Nashville.
Friday’s enforcement consisted of 12 SID detectives, four patrol officers, and one canine unit. Areas targeted were Westchester Drive, Brick Church Pike, the Madison area, James Cayce Homes, Straightway Avenue, Douglas Avenue, Dickerson Pike, Gallatin Pike, Harding Place at Linbar Drive, Nolensville Pike at Old Hickory Boulevard, Antioch Pike, Richards Road, and Dutchman’s Court.
Saturday’s enforcement consisted of four SID detectives, four patrol officers, and two canine units. Areas targeted were the Edgehill area, Harding Place at Linbar Drive, Nolensville Pike at Old Hickory Boulevard, Antioch Pike, Richards Road, Dutchman’s Court, and the J.C. Napier public housing development.
Sunday’s enforcement consisted of eight SID detectives and five patrol officers. Areas targeted were Harding Place at Nolensville Pike, and the Madison area.
So far this year, the police department’s Operation Safer Streets gang enforcement initiative has netted 1,883 arrests involving 2,083 misdemeanor charges, 340 felony charges, and 347 outstanding warrants.
