FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 9, 2007

East Precinct detectives have arrested a second suspect for Tuesday’s murder of Jarrod Collins and are on the trail of the suspected shooter.

Darryl Thompson, 20, of Meridian Street, admits to taking part in the effort to rob Collins, 31, outside Last Chance Market on Dickerson Pike. He is being charged this evening with criminal homicide. Evidence developed late Thursday and today led to the identification of Thompson and Reginald Adkins, the gunman believed to have shot Collins in the back. A murder warrant is being sought against Adkins. East detectives, SWAT officers assigned to the Special Response Team, and the Gang Unit are on the streets trying to find him.

Charged Thursday with criminal homicide was Brandy Lea Birdwell, 25. She admitted to driving two male suspects to the store in her pickup truck and to taking them away from the scene after shooting.
