East Precinct detectives have identified the man who slashed the throat of Latepiquena Restaurant employee Yuridia Osorio during a robbery at the Gallatin Pike business Wednesday evening.
Arrest warrants charging attempted murder and aggravated robbery have been issued against Luis Alberto Rodriguez, 20.
Rodriguez entered the market shortly before 7 p.m. armed with a pistol. During the robbery, he struck Osorio, 24, over the head with the gun and then cut her throat and face in what detectives believe was an effort to kill her (Osorio knew Rodriguez by name from seeing him in the area previously). After Rodriguez fled, Osorio went out to the street and flagged down a patrol officer. She was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment of a severe laceration to her neck/throat.
Rodriguez was convicted of aggravated burglary in Criminal Court in April 2006. He was given a four year suspended sentence, placed on supervised probation for five years, and was ordered to take an English class.
Anyone seeing Luis Alberto Rodriguez or knowing his whereabouts is asked to contact the Emergency Communications Center at 862-8600 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
