Metro Police patch

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 9, 2007

A pedestrian was fatally injured Thursday night when she was struck by a car while walking across Stewarts Ferry Pike near I-40. Doris Dennison, 64, of Stewarts Ferry Pike, was transported to Summit Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Gary Armstrong, 60, of Hermitage, was driving his Kia Optima northbound on Stewarts Ferry Pike at 6 p.m. when he struck Dennison. There was no evidence Armstrong was impaired or that speed was a factor. Charges are not expected to be filed against him.

Dennison’s family members reported she was out taking a walk. It appears her failure to yield to traffic while crossing the roadway was the contributing factor to this fatal accident.
