Metro Police patch

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 7, 2007

Detectives are asking for the community’s assistance in locating the persons involved in the fatal shooting of Jarrod Landon Collins late Tuesday afternoon in the parking lot next to Last Chance Liquor Store at 839 Dickerson Pike.

Collins, 31, of Stainback Avenue, died from a gunshot wound to his back after being involved in a confrontation with two young black males believed to be in their teens. At least one of them was armed. The two apparently made a robbery demand of Collins. When he tried to flee, a shot was fired. Collins was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.

Seconds after the shooting, witnesses saw the two suspects jump into the bed of a small, clean white pickup truck, possibly a Ford Ranger. The truck was driven by a tall (at least 5’10”), heavy set white woman with brown hair pulled back into a pony tail. She is believed to be in her 20s. In the front of the truck with her was another male black.

Anyone with information on the pickup truck, the woman, or the young men in the truck last night is urged to contact East Precinct Investigations at 862-7525 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME. The truck has been known to frequent the East Nashville area.
