Last weekend’s Operation Safer Streets gang enforcement initiative, which took place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday resulted in 55 arrests involving 19 felonies, 59 misdemeanors, and nine outstanding warrants. Seized were 99.9 grams of marijuana, 11.1 grams of cocaine, nine various pills, and $46 cash.

At least three times a week, officers and supervisors representing each of the six precincts and the Specialized Investigations Division (SID) partner together to implement strategies to combat gang crimes and activities in various areas of Nashville.

Friday’s enforcement consisted of 16 SID detectives, three patrol officers, and two canine units. Areas targeted were 11th Avenue North at Jefferson Street, the 800 block of North 2nd Street, Lewis Street at Lafayette Street, the 300 block of West Trinity Lane, North 1st Street at Oldham Street, 16th Avenue North at Ireland Street, the 200 block of Tampa Drive, Packard Drive, Apache Trail, Murfreesboro Pike at Thompson Lane, the Opry Mills Mall area, and Harding Place at Nolensville Pike.

Saturday’s enforcement consisted of seven SID detectives, four patrol officers, and one canine unit. Areas targeted were Harding Place at Nolensville Pike, Murfreesboro Pike at Thompson Lane, Charlotte Avenue, and Clifton Avenue.

Sunday’s enforcement consisted of seven SID detectives and six patrol officers. Areas targeted were Clifton Avenue at 28th and 40th Avenues North, 40th Avenue North at Charlotte Avenue, Meharry Boulevard, Nolensville Pike, and I-24 at Harding Place.

So far this year, the police department’s Operation Safer Streets gang enforcement initiative has netted 1,773 arrests involving 1,963 misdemeanor charges, 335 felony charges, and 332 outstanding warrants.
