South Precinct detectives have determined that a dispute between Jose Lozano Miranda and his girlfriend led to Miranda’s murder outside the Citgo market at 4719 Nolensville Pike Saturday night.
An arrest warrant charging criminal homicide was issued today against Jorge Luis Ramos. Ramos, 30, who is last known to have lived at 5242 Edmondson Pike, is actively being sought by police.
The investigation by detectives Derry Baltimore and Lori Gross shows that Miranda went to the market Saturday night to pick up his girlfriend. Upon arrival, Miranda saw his girlfriend talking to Ramos. Miranda asked his girlfriend to get into the car so they could talk. During the conversation, Miranda is believed to have gotten upset at the girlfriend and grabbed her by the arm. Ramos apparently saw her trying to pull away from Miranda and intervened. In the process, Miranda was shot in the chest.
The girlfriend was interviewed by detectives late Sunday night and is deemed to be a witness in the homicide case.
Anyone seeing Jorge Luis Ramos or knowing his whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.
