Metro Police patch

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

October 19, 2007

A grand jury indictment has now been returned naming three men in connection with last year’s murder of Phillip Patton in East Nashville.

Patton, 23, of Strouse Avenue, was fatally shot just before 3 p.m. on July 31, 2006, as he changed a slashed tire on his girlfriend’s car at her 2311-B Riverside Drive home.

Charged with first-degree murder are Victor Dewayne Nelson, 34, James Jetton Fletcher, III, 27, and DeMichael Tyrone Moore, 27. A dispute between Patton and Fletcher and is believed to be the motive for the homicide.

East Precinct detectives arrested Moore Tuesday afternoon as he met with his probation officer. Nelson, who is serving time in the Metro jail for a robbery conviction, was charged October 13. Fletcher is currently incarcrated in a Kentucky federal prison where he is serving time for a weapons charge.

Nelson and Moore remain in the Metro jail in lieu of $500,000 bond each.
