East Precinct detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the gunman who killed Randall Lawrence Hayes, 30, of Montgomery Avenue, Saturday evening.

Police responded to a shots fired call at 5:30 p.m. and found Hayes lying in the grass in the 1000 block of Lischey Avenue with a single gunshot wound. Hayes was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.

The suspect is described as a black man in his early 20s. He is approximately 5’8” tall, has short hair, and weighs approximately 160 pounds.

Detectives would also like to interview a man who was with Hayes moments before the shooting. The potential witness is described as a black man in his late teens. He is approximately 5’8” tall and weighs approximately 130 pounds.
