Two 14-year-olds are being held in juvenile detention for allegedly robbing a 66-year-old man downtown at 11:20 this morning.
The victim had just gotten out of his car across from 222 3rd Avenue North and was locking it when the two 14-year-olds and a 16-year-old approached and pushed him to the ground. The 16-year-old jumped on top of the victim and removed a money clip from his front pocket and a wallet from his rear pocket. Nearby witnesses saw what was taking place and chased the three from the scene. Moments later, Central Precinct officers spotted the 14-year-olds and took them into custody. The 16-year-old got away; however, detectives know who he is.
The 14-year-olds claimed they came downtown after being expelled from Baxter Alternative School for fighting.
The victim had a cut to his head as the result of being pushed to the pavement. He did not require medical attention.
