
East Precinct detectives today charged 18-year-old Ashton Gaines with criminal homicide in connection with the September 30 shooting death of 21-year-old Cory Wayne Sanders.
Gaines, of Edwards Avenue, is also charged with especially aggravated robbery and conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery as the investigation shows that Gaines and others came to Sanders’ 2912 Highland Drive home for the purpose of robbing him of marijuana and cash.
Gaines admitted to being an active participant in the robbery conspiracy that led to the murder of Sanders. Additional arrests are anticipated.
