
Last weekend’s Operation Safer Streets gang enforcement initiative, which was conducted on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday, resulted in the arrests of 73 persons on 21 felony and 78 misdemeanor charges.
Friday’s work resulted in 25 arrests as officers targeted the areas of 28th Avenue North & Clifton Avenue, 25th Avenue North & Batavia Street, Georgia Court, the Cumberland View public housing development, the J.C. Napier public housing development, 270 Tampa Drive, Nolensville Pike & Harding Place, and Harding Place & Tampa Drive.
Saturday’s effort led to 30 arrests as officers targeted the areas of Merry Street, 2nd Avenue South, 3rd Avenue South & McCann Street, 11th Avenue North & Jefferson Street, the J.C. Napier public housing development, and Paragon Mills Road.
On Sunday, 18 persons were arrested during enforcement activities at 25th Avenue North & Batavia Street, Merry Street, 28th Avenue North & Clifton Avenue, Harding Place near I-24, and Tampa drive.
At least three times each week, patrol officers partner with detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division to implement strategies to combat gang-related crimes and activities in various areas of Nashville.
So far this year, Operation Safer Streets has resulted in 1,563 arrests involving 296 felony and 1,714 misdemeanor charges. More than 300 warrants have been served and 34 guns have been seized.
