FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

October 1, 2007

Cold Case detectives this afternoon charged two 17-year-olds with criminal homicide for the October 2005 murder of Terry Kephart on Knight Drive.

Jermarcus Octavious Burns of 532 Raymond Street, and Darian Lewis Martin of 3310 Knight Drive, are being held at the Juvenile Detention Center.

Kephart, 57, of 3445 Knight Drive, was found shot to death in his neighbor’s back yard two years ago today. The investigation reveals that Kephart, an auto mechanic, was fatally wounded over a 1993 Chevrolet Caprice he had been working on. After he was shot, Kephart fled his assailants, collapsed, and died on his neighbor’s property.

The homicide charges against Burns and Martin are the result of many hours of diligent investigative work by Cold Case Detectives Charles Robinson and Norris Tarkington, and North Precinct Detective Russ Thompson.
