Mayor Karl Dean and Chief Ronal Serpas this afternoon will welcome the 40 members of police recruit Session 56, the first officer trainee class to begin under the Dean administration. The mayor and chief will greet the class at 1 p.m. at the Metro Training Academy, 2715 Tucker Road in Bordeaux.
Joining the 40 Metro members of Session 56 are eleven candidates for the Vanderbilt University Police Department.
Session 56 is slated to graduate on March 6, 2008.
