FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

September 28, 2007

The man found shot to death Thursday night at the Shop-N-Save market he owned at 1497 County Hospital Road is identified as Gene Kim, 52, of Brentwood, Tennessee.

Kim was sitting behind the cash register when the suspect entered the market, walked up to the counter, and opened fire at 9 p.m. The gunman fled in a red Pontiac Grand Am. It does not appear the store was robbed. Detectives are investigating reports of an argument Kim may have had with two people who came into the store earlier in the evening.

The suspect is described as a black man in his twenties. He is 6 feet tall, has short hair, a tattoo on his right arm, and weighs approximately 190 pounds. He entered the market wearing black pants and a black shirt.

Anyone seeing the suspect or having information about him is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME or North Precinct Investigations at 862-7901.
