FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

September 27, 2007

Outstanding police work by Hermitage Precinct officers and detectives led to last night's arrest of three 15-year-old robbery suspects. The teenagers admitted to their involvement in separate robberies of food deliverymen outside a vacant house in the 3100 block of Lumberjack Road.

Shirave Lewis of Niagra Drive, Ryheen Kelly of Lumberjack Road, and Hanif Russ of Colonial Circle, ordered food to the vacant house and robbed or attempted to rob the deliverymen.

Following the robberies of pizza deliverers September 21 and September 22, and the robbery of a restaurant deliverer September 24, police set up surveillance in the area last night. An employee of a Chinese Restaurant tried to deliver food to the residence and was robbed at 7:50 p.m. The suspects fled on foot to Ryheen Kelly’s nearby Lumberjack Road home where all three were quickly apprehended.

During interviews with Hermitage Precinct detectives, Lewis, Kelly, and Russ admitted to Wednesday night’s robbery and to their involvement in other robberies.

Lewis, Russ, and Kelly are charged with aggravated robbery in juvenile court.
