A joint effort by the police department’s Sex Crimes Unit and the U.S. Marshals Service to locate an accused Nashville child rapist resulted in the defendant’s arrest today in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Michael Deshun Carter, 32, is named in a Davidson County Grand Jury indictment charging four counts of child rape, four counts of rape, two counts of statutory rape, six counts of aggravated sexual battery, and two counts of sexual battery by an authority figure.
The charges stem from Carter’s alleged molestation of four girls between the ages of 12 and 14 over a period of about three years. One victim’s parent came forward earlier this year, which prompted the investigation by Sex Crimes detectives. The victims were friends of Carter’s family.
Information developed by the Sex Crimes Unit and relayed to Philadelphia through the U.S. Marshals Middle Tennessee Fugitive Task Force led to Carter’s arrest today during Philadelphia’s Operation Falcon fugitive sweep. He is expected to be returned to Nashville in the near future.
