
Last weekend’s Operation Safer Streets gang enforcement initiative, which took place Friday and Saturday afternoons and evenings, resulted in 41 arrests involving seven felonies, 41 misdemeanors, and 13 outstanding warrants. Seized were ten grams of marijuana, 20.7 grams of cocaine, three weapons, one vehicle, and $2,636 cash.
Friday’s enforcement consisted of 12 SID detectives, three patrol officers, and two canine units. Areas targeted were the James Cayce public housing development, Buchanan Street, 23rd Avenue North at Osage Street, Edgehill Avenue at 11th Avenue South, and Shelby Avenue.
Saturday’s enforcement consisted of six SID detectives, six patrol officers, and one canine unit. Areas targeted were Brick Church Pike at Village Trail, Westchester Drive, Quail Ridge Drive, Indian Summer Drive, Harding Place, Linbar Drive, Wallace Road, and the J.C. Napier public housing development.
At least twice a week, officers and supervisors representing each of the six precincts and the Specialized Investigations Division (SID) partner together to implement strategies to combat gang crimes and activities in various areas of Nashville.
