Last weekend’s Operation Safer Streets gang enforcement initiative, which took place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoon and evening resulted in 63 arrests involving one felony, 77 misdemeanors, and the service of 17 outstanding warrants. Seized were 69.6 grams of marijuana, two Fentanyl patches, and four various pills.

At least once a week, officers and supervisors representing each of the six precincts and the Specialized Investigations Division (SID) partner together to implement strategies to combat gang crimes and activities in various areas of Nashville.

Friday’s enforcement consisted of 13 SID detectives and seven patrol officers. Areas targeted were the Madison area, Buchanan Street, Tampa Drive, Linbar Drive, Harding Place, Treasure Reef, Seashell Cove, Foster Avenue, and Payne Road.

Saturday’s enforcement consisted of eight SID detectives and seven patrol officers. Areas targeted were the Madison area, Treasure Reed, Seashell Cove, Joe Pyron Drive, Madison Park, the 300 block of Rio Vista Drive, Cheyenne Boulevard at Neelys Bend Circle, Buchanan Street at Dr. D.B. Todd Jr. Boulevard, 12th Avenue North, Cephas Street, 23rd Avenue North at Osage Street, Tampa Drive, Linbar Drive, Harding Place at Nolensville Pike, and the J.C. Napier public housing development.

Sunday’s enforcement consisted of nine SID detectives and four patrol officers. Areas targeted were 23rd Avenue North at Osage Street, Buchanan Street at Dr. D.B. Todd Jr. Boulevard, Cephas Street, Harding Place at Tampa Drive, and Haywood Lane at Apache Trail.

In 2007 Operation Safer Streets has resulted in 1244 arrests on 244 felony charges and 1367 misdemeanor charges, 299 drug seizures, 26 gun seizures, the service of 250 outstanding warrants, and 2,976 traffic stops in areas with a gang presence.
