Coordinated efforts between West Precinct officers and Aviation led to the location of a missing Alzheimer's patient this afternoon.
The 80-year-old man wandered away from a medical facility on Patterson Street at 3 p.m. Officers established a command post and began searching the area.
Family members told police he might be trying to visit a friend in South Nashville. Helicopter pilot Jake Patterson began flying in a pattern consistent with this tip and spotted the elderly man on foot at 5:30 p.m. at the I-65/440 Interchange.
Despite the extreme heat, the elderly man is in good condition and has been reunited with his family.
