North Precinct detectives are working to identify the man who fatally wounded JasonJetton Lloyd near the intersection of 14th Avenue North & Wheless Street at 12:20 a.m. today.

Detectives know that Lloyd, 29, of Arthur Avenue, walked onto Wheless from 16th Avenue North. Behind Lloyd was a young black gunman wearing a yellow T-shirt and blue jeans. As Lloyd crossed Wheless toward a vacant lot, the gunman opened fire. The gunman advanced toward Lloyd. The two had brief words and another shot was fired. Lloyd collapsed. The gunman got into the passenger seat of an early 1990s model gray Ford Thunderbird and fled the scene.

Lloyd was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Anyone with information on the gunman or the Thunderbird is urged to contact Crime Stoppers or North Precinct Investigations at 862-7901.
