Metro Police patch

The man killed late Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision on I-24 West has been identified as Denson Hudgens, 68, of Chapmansboro, Tennessee.

He was driving his pickup truck west on I-24 with his son, Matthew Hudgens, 22, when he began to slow down in heavy traffic. Joseph Steinle, 43, of Pleasant View, was also driving a pickup and struck the Hudgens vehicle in the rear. The elder Hudgens was ejected as his truck rolled over. The impact also caused Steinle’s pickup to roll over.

Denson Hudgens was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

Matthew Hudgens was transported to Skyline Medical Center where he was treated and released for minor injuries. Steinle was not injured.

The investigation is continuing.
