Juvenile Court petitions charging murder and attempted murder have been issued against a teenager in connection with the July 18th shooting death of 16-year-old Brandy Nicole White and wounding of 17-year-old Latasha Black inside a Hillside Avenue apartment.
Dijon Lester Simon, 16, who is presently in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services, is scheduled for a hearing on the charges August 8.
West Precinct detectives learned that Simon and Black were involved in an argument hours before the shooting over what were described as gang-related issues. Information developed during the course of the investigation led to the identification of Simon as the person suspected of coming into the apartment at 5:15 a.m. on July 18 and opening fire on the two victims.
