
Last weekend’s Operation Safer Streets gang enforcement initiative, which took place Friday and Saturday afternoon and evening resulted in 45 arrests involving 20 felonies, 45 misdemeanors, and 13 outstanding warrants. Seized were 12.5 grams of marijuana, 2.1 grams of cocaine, and $7, 911 cash.
At least once a week, officers and supervisors representing each of the six precincts and the Specialized Investigations Division (SID) partner together to implement strategies to combat gang crimes and activities in various areas of Nashville.
Friday’s enforcement consisted of 17 SID detectives and eight patrol officers. Areas targeted were the Hallmark Inn at 309 West Trinity Lane, the Liberty Inn at 2400 Brick Church Pike, Dickerson Pike at Evanston Avenue, 2nd Avenue South at Lafayette Street, 11th Avenue North at Jefferson Street, Lewis Street at Lafayette Street, Straightway Avenue, 1500 Porter Road, Litton Avenue, Cahal Avenue, Madison Park, Neelys Bend Road, Delaware Avenue, 500 Cheyenne Boulevard, the Edgehill area, Harding Place, Paragon Mills, Pitts Park, Whitfield Park, and Wallace Road.
Saturday’s enforcement consisted of six SID detectives and eight patrol officers. Areas targeted were 22nd Avenue North at Osage Street, 14th Avenue North at Ireland Street, 11th Avenue North at Jefferson Street, the Edgehill area, Harding Place at Nolensville Pike, the James Cayce public housing development, and Dellway Villa Road.
